Why Enter the Contest?

Aside from the chance to win $1,000, the contest a great way to try futures trading for the first time if you are new, or if you are already trading, explore a new market or strategy.

"I think this provides the beginner and seasoned trader with an opportunity to consistently apply your trading strategy and risk management criteria, trade unencumbered from emotions, find out how you compare with other traders, and explore and implement new trading techniques and strategies," said Dan Gramza, President of Gramza Capital Management. Gramza is one of our five professional traders featured during the contest, and will be available in the webinar trading room on May 7.

The broad mix of CBOT markets you can trade, from corn to soybeans, to Dowsm futures, to metals, to Treasuries, make the contest an ideal forum to see and trade various intermarket relationships, too. During the contest week, the data calendar should provide ample opportunity for market movement, including a Federal Reserve policy meeting on May 9, monthly retail sales on May 11, and agricultural crop reports bookended on May 7 and 11.

"We are one of the few exchanges that have so many liquid markets in such a diverse product line," said Robert Ray, Senior Vice President of Business Development at CBOT. "Everyone has an opinion on interest rates and inflation, which affect nearly every market. And now markets like corn and soybeans are tied to energy, and that's brought heavy volume and some big price movement. The contest is a great way to see how the fundamentals play out in the different markets," he said.
