Trading Tools

Handy little tools make trading commodities and trading futures more fun and easier to understand.

Fair Value

Fair value is a popular calculation that quickly shows the relationship between a stock index futures contract and the underlying stock index. Traders use fair value as a tool in determining whether the futures contract is overpriced or underpriced.

The fair value calculation on the Lind-Waldock Web site is computed daily (using three different interest rates) for the front three months of the Standard & Poor's 500® index and the Dow Jones Industrial AverageSM.

OneChicago Calculator

Single stock futures (SSF) can be used as speculative or hedging vehicles with unique characteristics and potential benefits, and provide an alternate method for financing equity transactions. OneChicago's Single-Stock Futures Calculator can help you quickly and easily calculate and compare the costs involved between an equity stock and a futures position. See which vehicle might make more sense for you. Learn more about the calculator, and try it out yourself!

*Security futures are not suitable for all customers. Before investing in a security futures product, please contact Lind-Waldock at 800-445-2000 for a copy of the required Security Futures Risk Disclosure Statement (requires Adobe Acrobat Reader). There is a substantial risk of loss in trading futures and options. February 22, 2008.
